What I mean when I say "Farmer Florist"
Share
I've been told I'm stubborn and "pleasantly persistent" - both of those friends who told me that at separate times meant them as compliments and I took them as such.

It takes a stubborn pleasantly persistent person to start a flower farm when she's living in an urban lot with terrible unremarkable soil.
It takes a stubborn pleasantly persistent person to keep breaking the ground of her small urban lot when her dreams of farms don't pan out.

It takes a stubborn pleasantly persistent to reach out to Chicago florists and drive 6 hours for a day of work here & there. Watching, studying, asking questions, and learning the skills she'd need to take her little lot of flowers and make something beautiful with them.

It's exhausting. It's some times discouraging. It's humbling. It's hot.

It's working with beauty. It's seeing a concept come to life. It's having a bride tell me, "I trust your creativity." It's sweet smelling roses.
It's harvesting armloads of snapdragons you started from seed in January. It's seeing pollinators in the morning and birdsong waking me up before the sun is up.
It's so much inexpressible joy and heart-filling satisfaction.

I wouldn't trade the life of farmer florist for anything else.
My dreams are growing slower than I want, because of other things taking priority, but my stubborn, pleasantly persistent personality won't let me quit.

So when I say I'm a "Farmer Florist" I mean seamlessly flowing from bridal consultation calls to pulling weeds, ordering seeds for next year to cleaning out vases so they sparkle beautifully.
In one day you might find me answering emails, balancing the books, writing up social media posts, writing customers back, watering, weeding, fertilizing, and harvesting flowers, or hopping on calls to book brides and creating mock-ups to show couples the possibility of working with us.

I love my job and love the people I get to serve.

We would love to serve you this year!
